Efraim Duzman, M.D.

Dr. Efraim Duzman obtained his medical education at the Hebrew University Hadassah medical Center in Jerusalem, Israel and completed his Ophthalmology residency at the Hadassah and at the Kaplan medical centers in Rehovot, Israel (affiliated with the Hebrew University Medical Center at Hadassah Jerusalem). Dr. Efraim Duzman was granted Board certification in Ophthalmology in 1977. Dr. Duzman then completed a research fellowship at the Weitzman Research institute working in the areas of inflammation and immune regulation in the eye. In 1979, Dr. Duzman was appointed to the faculty of the department of Ophthalmology at UC Irvine where he completed a two years research and clinical fellowship in Ophthalmic Pharmacology and Glaucoma with Professor Irving Leopold M.D a worldwide leader in these fields. Between 1982- 1994, Dr. Efraim Duzman was academically promoted to Assistant Professor and than Associate Professor in Ophthalmology at the Department of Ophthalmology at UCI. He then served as the Chief of the department of Ophthalmology at the UCI medical Center.


During his years at UCI, Dr. Efraim Duzman also served as head of clinical research and development for Allergan Pharmaceuticals. He lead the team that developed several eye care medications currently in use by millions of patients in many countries. Between 1993-1998, Dr. Duzman managed the research department at Chiron Vision Inc that introduced the ophthalmic market in the US to Radial Keratotomy, Lasik and foldable Intra ocular lens implants.


Since 1993, Dr. Efraim Duzman has been in private practice at the Lakeside Vision Center in Irvine. He also serves as a consultant to several major eye care companies. Throughout his career, Dr. Efraim Duzman has published close to one hundred articles in various professional magazine and authored several chapters for Ophthalmology textbooks. He has made multiple presentations in national and international ophthalmology congresses.


Eran Duzman, M.D.

Dr. Eran Duzman grew up in Irvine. He attended University High school where he graduated with honors and gained early admission into the University of California Irvine. Dr. Duzman attended UC Irvine where he obtained a bachelors degree in biological sciences and won several research awards. Dr. Duzman then attended New York medical College where he earned his M.D Degree. He gained honors in research on several occasions while in Medical school. He received an excellence award in his surgical rotation for his research on Radial Keratotomy as treatment for near sightedness. Dr. Duzman then completed a one year internship in Internal Medicine at Westchester county medical center in New York. Dr. Duzman then attended a four year ophthalmology residency at Louisiana State University in New Orleans where he studied under the pioneers of laser refractive surgery. As a resident, his emphasis was on cataract and refractive surgery. He also gained excellence in research awards and professional publications for developing new techniques in glaucoma surgery. After finishing his residency in New Orleans in 1998, Dr. Eran Duzman joined Lakeside Vision Center. Currently, Dr. Eran Duzman is the Chairman of the Ophthalmology Department at HOAG Hospital a position that he has held for the past 3 years.


Joseph Wu, O.D.

Doctor Wu graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry/Cell Biology and with a Minor in Psychology.  He then completed his optometric training, graduating with Beta Sigma Kappa honors, at Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO).  His internship training includes the San Diego Naval Medical Center, the Optometric Center of Los Angeles, and VA Las Vegas.  Additionally, Dr. Wu completed a post-graduate residency in Primary Eye Care/Hospital-Based Geriatric Optometry at the Sepulveda VA Hospital.  His published article, "Idiopathic Juxtafoveal Retinal Telangiectasia," appears in the November 2008 issue of Optometry, the Journal of the American Optometric Association. He has been at Lakeside Vision Center for 3 years and specializes in hard to fit lenses, and complicated optometric cases.
